Background: I attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated in December 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Applied Mathematics. During the summer of 2019, I was part of an internship program in Washington, D.C. I worked for a non-profit that focused on improving the state of physics educators in the country. Following that, I got a job at a charter school in Connecticut, where I worked as a teaching assistant for an eighth-grade math teacher. The school was primarily minority students, and I had fun getting to know them until the COVID-19 pandemic pushed us all onto virtual learning platforms, and I didn’t hear from most of my students again. Once my time there ended, I realized that I wouldn’t be satisfied teaching and continued. I had the opportunity to move to San Diego, a city I’ve always wanted to live in, so I drove the whole way here. Since getting to SD, I found that my biggest passion is science communication. I’ve been watching science YouTube videos as long as they’ve been around, so I felt that getting a career in communicating science is where I can do the most good. Currently, I’m pursuing a certificate in Science Communication from the Univeristy of California, San Diego Extension School, hence the birth of this blog.
